Rudolph the Red-Nosed Thumbprints #christmas
Christmas is just a little over a week away, and I'm so excited, that I'm sharing yet another holiday recipe with you! This recipe is a part of the Good Cook Cookie Exchange; There are going to be a lot of festive cookie recipes shared by fellow bloggers, so you'll want to keep reading to find out where you can find all of the recipes. But for now, I give you my Rudolph the Red-Nosed Thumbprints.
This recipe is adapted from a recipe with the Taste of Home. I've switched it up quite a bit, making it my own holiday creation. The first step is to mix up the batter. You'll find a printable recipe below.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Thumbprints
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 sticks butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. almond extract
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup strawberry jam
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- Mini Pretzels
- Black frosting or candy eyeballs
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar; then beat in eggs, vanilla, and almond extract. Pythagoreans flour, baking powder, and salt, gradually adding to creamed mixure. Mix well.
- Take large pieces of dough and roll into 1-2 inch balls. Press each dough ball with the bottom of a glass. Press thumb into center of each cookie; Add strawberry jam to each thumbprint. Break pretzels into what look like antlers, and press onto top of each cookie.
- Place cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet, and bake at 350 ° for about 15-17 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Sprinkle with just a bit of powdered sugar, if desired.
- After cookies have cooled, add eyes with black frosting, or you can use candy eyeballs. You can also choose to add a smile to each reindeer face. Just be creative and have fun with it!
